POSTPARTUM DOULA
Doula Vonda provides Certified HBPC Postpartum care.
Doula Vonda has been a parent educator for over 32 years and in that time has seen the importance of the first days and weeks of parenting. She believes postpartum doula work fulfills a critical need for families, it is “Preventive Education”. As a postpartum doula she knows what resources are available in the community. She can make appropriate referrals to the new mother and father when necessary.
Postpartum doulas can provide important information about current best practices and techniques in infant care. Advice to support and teach the important skills new parents need as they begin their most important and challenging journey, parenting!
Some of the most important areas of postpartum support include providing breastfeeding and bottle feeding information and encouragement; offering tips about practical newborn care, development and behavior, providing positive and constructive sibling care, sharing beneficial information and suggesting comfort measures to new mothers about what is happening to them as they heal and what to expect in the next weeks, and being available to answer questions, address issues as they arise, and providing resource and referral information as needed.
